Color Spectrum TLDR[]

The colors used for each genre are defined by how NCS labels them. For example: Dubstep is labeled as blue and House is labeled as yellow because the majority of NCS uploads of the respective genres have their respective colors. That is why Phonk House is teal while the other House subgenres aren't.

The color label for a genre is able to change. Midtempo was assigned to white, then cyan, then white again. Garage was assigned to yellow, then white. Pop was assigned to white, then orange.

However, the entire spectrum goes deeper than just the NCS uploads. NCS.io, their personal website, uses a different spectrum. Electronic is the default for white and Bass is the default for black because of so.

The different spectrums for YouTube and NCS.io come with a conflict due to different colors. Techno is purple on YouTube and white on the site, however, NCS.io rarely labels songs as Techno when every single YouTube upload marked as Techno since Move Your Body was purple. That is why Rock is orange even though the site labels it as white.

On the other hand, the NCS.io spectrum uses exclusive colors not used on YouTube, such as Pop, Jersey Club and UK Garage. In this case, it's better to use the site-assigned color.
